Wedding in Zagorje

The work on cultural and tourist event ”Wedding in Zagorje” started in 1981, and was created with the aim of preserving and presenting traditional wedding customs and folklore expressions of the Croatian Zagorje.

The wedding ceremony takes place under the old rules, showing the supplication of the bride, engagement, carnival, the cakes, and after the engagements follows the wedding party and national dishes. The aim of the event is to raise awareness about the importance of cultural and historical heritage, and encouragement of the individuals and organizations to the research and revival of folk customs of Zagorje. Every year, there are more visitors and interest for these events, and thus visitors also experience old, already forgotten customs.
